I'm not sure why the phrase Its a dog's life kept coming to mind this morning. And I'm not even sure if the phrase is meant to describe a negative or positive life. When I "googled" the phrase I didn't get much help. I get it that it must have begun as an English proverb because Google sent me to sites mainly in the UK. The National Library of Australia was mentioned as well as a newspaper in Canada. But nowhere did I find an explanation. The closest was a vague reference to the notion that whoever coined the phrase was not familiar with 21st century dogs. Anyway, it's another opportunity to post photos of the family Bassett Hounds. (Does "Bassett" have one "t" or 2?) If the phrase means you lie around all day, that could apply at times. If it means hard stuff, that could also apply. Maybe it's best to say, It is what it is and let it go at that! And say thank you to all the folks in our "pack". Your good wishes make a palpable difference!
