For those of you who are artistic and/or crafty (in the good sense of the word), you might like to check out http://rebeccasower.typepad.com/ I discovered her work through Alyssa who had a wonderful book on journaling by Rebecca. The woman used to write for scrapbooking magazines but has gone on to other things. I have liked her books so much that I "googled" her. In that way I found her website. She is beginning a new feature called Handmade from Home. The first project is windchimes from junk, with photos as well as clear instructions. I suggest you try it...(the webpage) you might like it! Our ancestors worked with their hands out of necessity (note grazing sheep at Avebury in England). The desire to make something new from the materials at hand is in our DNA, I think. Is that why I can hardly wait until I can get rid of this hard plastic splint? Four and a half more weeks!

I'm making a mental not to check out Rebecca's site -- it sounds great! I love the idea that working with our hands is in our DNA. It gives me chills for some reason. Great post!
